The Dover-Sherborn Youth Baseball and Softball programs are always in need of parent volunteers.  A number of opportunities exist which call for a variety of talents and time commitments.  Please take a moment to consider how you could contribute to our organization. For most age groups, baseball and softball tryouts/evaluations are this weekend.  Please see the chart below for more details. 

Tryouts/Evaluations are an opportunity to assess each player’s ability in an effort to balance teams.  All teams will be balanced to ensure fairness and equality among the teams within a division.

Players should arrive a few minutes early to check-in.  Players will need their glove.  For tryouts in the gym, players should wear sneakers or similar.  NO CLEATS.

    

Dover Park and Rec is strongly recommending that ALL coaches that use Dover fields be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.  Defibrillators have been installed at all Dover playing fields.  Dover Park and Rec is offering several opportunities to be trained at discounted rates.

There will be a CPR and AED Training Class offered in the Caryl School Library on March 8, 10, 16, and 18th from 7:00 to 8:30pm for those interested in obtaining their certification  You only need to attend one night listed above.  The class is open to ages 15 yrs +.  The cost is $20 per participant.

DSYBS has organized a 3 session Coaching Clinic for baseball and softball coaches who would like to improve their coaching skill set so they can better coach and most importantly improve our young baseball and softball player’s experience.

These 3 sessions will be held weeknights on March 29, April 5 and April 12 at 6:30pm. Location is Dover Sherborn Middle School. 

We highly recommend this program that is being taught by the coaching staff from the New England Ruffnecks Baseball Club, one of the East’s premier amateur baseball programs.

Our players will benefit because our coach-attendees will learn how to set up exciting-fast paced practices for maximum player and team development and through instruction in hitting, pitching and fielding-throwing. This coaching clinic is for coaches of players from the earliest age up to Senior Babe Ruth.

Each session will last 2 hours and the cost per attendee is $25 per session: total cost will be $75.00 per attendee.

If you have already registered please just bring a check for $75.00 to the first session to pay for all 3 sessions.

DSYBS is pleased to announce our 2010 Softball Winter Clinics, an indoor, three session program conducted by Jen Picardo, D-S High School varsity softball coach.  Clinic sessions are at Chickering School on Sundays -  February 28, March 7 and March 14. for players in grades 3 through 8.
